Hi! I'm Jeff Hillyard, a freelance food writer based in Newfoundland Canada. I've been writing primarily about all things barbecue and grilling for the last number of years, but I've recently been bitten by the pizza bug.

I make no claims to be a professional pizzaiolo. I've only been making homemade pizza since the spring of 2017, but I'm loving every minute of it.

I've been primarily making pies on my Weber Kettle outfitted with a KettlePizza, but I've also been making them in my home oven on a pizza stone.

Why Slice YYT?

Slice is a nod to the iconic and influential pizza blog of the same name, founded in 2003 by Adam Kuban. Slice was later purchased by Serious Eats in 2006 and Adam was brought on as Serious Eats founding Editor. YYT is simply the three-letter IATA airport code for St. John's, NL where I reside.

This blog is going to be a fun place for me to document my experimenting with pizza, showcasing my successes and failures, and reviewing any pizza related products I think are helpful. I'm also going to talk to the people who make pizza in and around St. John's, NL.
